Training Dog Leads
A training lead gives a dog the freedom to explore while you keep a safety line on recall. Long lines and adjustable multi-length leads are the quiet workhorses behind reliable off-lead behaviour.

Long lines for recall training
A long line — typically 5 to 15 metres — lets you practise recall in open spaces with a fail-safe attached. Your dog gets to range, sniff and respond from a distance, but can never fully bolt, which is how you build a reliable “come” before trusting them off-lead.
Always clip a long line to a harness, not a collar — a dog hitting the end of a long line at speed on a collar can injure its neck. Let it trail or hold it loosely; never wrap it round your hand.
Multi-length and double-ended leads
An adjustable multi-length lead clips at different points to switch between a short city lead, a hands-free waist lead and a longer roaming length — versatile for one dog in different settings.
Double-ended training leads, which attach to both a harness’s front and back rings, give gentle two-point steering that’s the backbone of many loose-lead walking methods for pullers.
Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.
Common questions
What length training lead do I need for recall?
A long line of around 5–10m suits most recall practice, giving freedom while keeping a safety connection. Use up to 15m in big open spaces, and always attach it to a harness rather than a collar.
Should a training lead clip to a collar or harness?
A harness, always — a dog hitting the end of a long line on a collar can suffer a neck injury. A back- or front-clip harness spreads the force safely across the body.
What is a double-ended training lead for?
It clips to two points (usually a harness’s front and back rings) for gentle two-point steering, which helps teach loose-lead walking and manage dogs that pull.
