Elevated & Raised Dog Beds
A taut bed of breathable mesh stretched over a sturdy frame keeps your dog off the cold tiles in winter and lets cooling air circulate underneath when it’s warm.

Why lift your dog off the floor
Floors are the enemy of comfortable sleep. Tiles and laminate leech heat from a dog’s body on cold mornings, while in summer a thick cushioned bed traps warmth against the skin. A raised cot bed solves both: the sleeping surface sits a few inches up on a frame, so cold never radiates straight through and warm air can drift away beneath the mesh.
The same airflow that cools also keeps the bed dry. Damp dogs, drool and the odd accident dry out far faster on a suspended fabric deck than they ever would soaking into a foam mattress, which makes elevated beds a sensible pick for muddy spaniels, post-swim retrievers and anyone whose dog runs hot.
Frames, fabric and outdoor use
Look for a powder-coated steel or sturdy resin frame with non-slip feet, and a mesh or heavy-duty fabric deck that is taut rather than saggy — a hammock that sinks in the middle gives a heavy dog no support. Check the stated maximum weight and choose a size that lets your dog lie fully stretched out, as cot beds don’t have raised sides to curl against.
For the garden or a covered patio, pick a weather-resistant fabric and a rust-proof frame, then simply hose it down and let it drip dry. Bring it under cover in heavy rain or frost; even waterproof fabric lasts longer out of standing water, and a cold wet deck defeats the point on a chilly night.
Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.
Common questions
Are raised beds good for dogs with arthritis?
They can be, because getting on and off a slightly elevated surface avoids lowering all the way to the floor, and the firm taut deck is easy to rise from. For very stiff or large seniors, pair it with a thin orthopaedic topper for joint cushioning.
Will my dog be too cold on a mesh bed in winter?
The airflow that cools in summer can feel chilly in an unheated room, so add a fleece blanket or a thin pad over the mesh during cold months. Indoors with normal heating, most dogs are perfectly comfortable.
Can I leave an elevated bed outside permanently?
Choose one rated for outdoor use and you can leave it on a covered, dry spot, but it will last far longer if you bring it in during heavy rain, frost or strong sun. Standing water and UV are what degrade frames and fabric over time.
